The Very Latest On Aretha And Her Famous Visitors

The Full Story:

As we previously told you, Aretha Franklin is reportedly receiving hospice care at home, and she had several famous friends stop by to visit her yesterday. According to the Queen of Soul’s publicist Stevie Wonder, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Franklin’s ex-husband Glynn Turman all visited her Detroit home.

Meanwhile, although the singer’s condition has been described as “gravely ill,” a source tells Entertainment Tonight, Aretha, “has been having lucid moments and she is at peace with her journey,” adding, “She is where she is supposed to be, at home and surrounded by only love.” The insider adds that Aretha is a very “private person” and though she’s been sick for a while “the last thing she wanted was to reveal this difficult time in her life with her fans.”

“She's loved her life and in the last year talked so much about her incredible memories,” the source says. “She has earned the title as the Queen of Soul and that is how she wants to be remembered.”

  • ONE MORE THING! Showbiz411 reports that an all-star tribute concert to commemorate Aretha’s 60 years in show business is scheduled to take place November 14th at Madison Square Garden in New York. “Clive Davis Presents: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin,” was approved by the Queen of Soul, who had hoped to be there, but didn’t plan on performing.
