Ebbers The Oldest And Cutest Bomb Sniffing Dog Retires After 10 Years

Ebbers was born into the TSA's Puppy Program at Lackland Airforce Base in Texas. He also served as canine security for major events like 2 Super Bowls.Photo: TSA

You all know I am a dog lover and it makes my heart feel good when a service dog who has served over a decade sniffing out bombs and keeping large events like Super Bowls safe from terror is able to retire and retire healthy so he can enjoy some good living. Most dogs retire when they're 7 or 8 years old due to the demands of the high-pressure job, Ebbers worked past a decade, His handler said "It's inevitable he was going to come to a point where he was going to start slowing down, and maybe start not being as proficient as he was when he was younger,". Ebbers' "do not pet" vest was replaced with a standard collar and leash, meaning he could finally get scratchies from his colleagues and admirers. He was showered with stuffed toys and celebrated with several bomb-shaped cakes, and both he and his handler Jean Carney received commemorative plaques.

EBBERS HAS QUITE A STORY TO TELL AND IT'S ALL RIGHT HERE. (COURTESY npr.org)
