Carson Time Capsule... Tuesday, August 25th.

In the capsule today…

We find actress Jane Fonda touring North Vietnam. During her trip she is photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun, outraging many Americans at home, and for which she later apologized.

We find the EPA banning the use of the pesticide DDT. Not the chemical, but its breakdown products cause eggshell thinning, resulting in huge population declines for birds of prey. The bald eagle population went from 400,000 in the 1800s to just 400 nesting pairs by the 1950s.

And we find a reggae song on the radio by Johnny Nash. The song is later used as a jingle for Windex.

What is the year? (answer below).
