Carson Time Capsule... Wednesday, November 18th.

In the capsule today…

We find DJ Kool Herc in New York City putting together the basis of what becomes a new musical genre: hip-hop.

We find a new Bond film in theaters. The storyline to “Live and Let Die” involves Harlem drug lord “Mr. Big” planning to distribute two tons of heroin for free to put rival drug barons out of business.

And we find a song on the radio by The Rolling Stones. The suburban Minneapolis town of Excelsior claims credit for the song. According to local legend, after a not-well-received show by the Stones in 1964, Mick Jagger went to a drugstore to get a Cherry Coke. The store was out… and well known local character Mr. Jimmy taunted Jagger with the comment, “You Can't Always Get What You Want.”

What is the year? (answer below).
