Carson Time Capsule... Monday, November 30th.

In the capsule today…

We find the debut of C-SPAN, a TV channel focusing on government and public programming. The acronym stands for “Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network.”

We find the first Star Trek movie in theaters… titled simply, “Star Trek: The Motion Picture.” Leonard Nimoy almost did not return as Spock, as he was owed unpaid royalties from the Star Trek TV series, and was not at all happy about it. The studio cut him a check, and begged him to return, which he did.

And we find a song on the radio by Cheap Trick. “Dream Police” was written for the first album, but didn’t make the cut. The song evolved as they played it live and eventually made it onto the bands fourth studio album as the title track.

What is the year? (answer below).
