Carson Time Capsule... Tuesday, February 23rd

In the time capsule today…

We find a satirical black comedy film about the television news industry. Writer Paddy Chayefsky visited network TV offices, including CBS and NBC, to research the film, “Network.” He was surprised to learn that television executives did not watch much TV, as they thought the content was beneath them.

We find a new TV show by Jim Henson. Jim was concerned that he was being typecast as a children's entertainer with his extensive work on Sesame Street. In an attempt to branch out, he decided to focus on the adult demographic with a prime-time show.

And we find a song on the radio by the Eagles. The song was inspired by a wild car ride Glenn Frey took with a Los Angeles drug dealer named "The Count". Glenn asked him to slow down... and The Count’s response was, "It's life in the fast lane baby!”

What is the year? (answer below).
