In the time capsule today…
We find the official announcement of NASA’s Space Shuttle Program. The goal was to reduce the cost of space exploration with a reusable vehicle.
We find a rugby team from Uruguay being rescued after missing in the Andes for 72 days after a plane crash. The survivors had only a bottle of rum and a few snacks to sustain them… and after nine days, the team resorted to cannibalism to stay alive.
And we find a song on the radio by Seals & Crofts. Jim Seals said the tune was "A very simple song about a man coming home from work and hearing the dog barking and things like that.”
