Beam Me Up Scotty-Holoportation, NASA Doctor Beams Up To The Space Station

This is getting pretty close to "Beam Me Up Scotty" from Star Trek. Holoportation is a type of technology that allows high-quality 3D models of people to be reconstructed, compressed and transmitted live anywhere in real time. It sounds cutting edge, but the process is over five years old. Holoportation has been used at Microsoft since 2016, but this is the first time anyone’s been transmitted to space. During the visit, Dr. Schmid had a two-way conversation with French astronaut Thomas Pesquet…and shook his hand.
