Construction To Cause Highway 217 Delays

Southbound OR 217 will be reduced to one lane between Allen Boulevard and Hall Boulevard the weekend of May 10-13 while crews build a section of the new auxiliary lane on the highway.

The single lane closure will be in place from 9 p.m. Friday, May 10 through the weekend until 5 a.m. Monday, May 13. The Denney Road on-ramp to the southbound highway will also close but all other on- and off-ramps will remain open.

This work had been originally scheduled for the weekend of April 26-29 but was postponed because of poor weather.

As a detour, use the Denney Road on-ramp to OR 217 north, continue north and use the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway interchange back to southbound OR 217.

Expect traffic slowdowns, delays, and congestion in this section of OR 217 south and in the surrounding area.

These closures are required to build a section of the new auxiliary lane on OR 217 which will reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely when it opens in 2025. Work activities will involve reinforcing the highway shoulder to support the future lane.

The closure is part of the OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project, which will build auxiliary lanes in both directions of the highway between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. The project is scheduled for completion at the end of next year and will mean smoother, safer and more reliable travel along the highway.

Work began in December 2021 and will continue through 2025. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are also making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
